Training Information

Training occurs throughout the season – members can access training for a variety of awards, building on their lifesaving skills and interests.

You can view the Seasons courses via the Calendar widget on this page (to the right or for phone-scroll down).

Calendar Widget Instructions

  1. Change the Month by clicking on the arrow to the left or right of the Month.

  2. Dates highlighted indicate a course starts on that date - click on the date (number) to view the Course name

  3. To view Course Information OR to Register to attend, click on the 'Register Now' button


To Attend a Course

Please register via 1 of the 3 methods below

  1. ONLINE (preferred) - using the Calendar Widget, or

  2. EMAIL - send an email to admin@pointlookoutslsc.com.au (with Name, Course Name and Date), or

  3. SMS - send an sms to 0428771377 (with Name, Course Name and Date)

2017/18 SKILLS MAINTENANCE (PROFICIENCY)

The Skills Maintenance (Proficiency) for the 2017/18 season will be held on SATURDAY 9 (10am start at Surf Club) & SUNDAY 10 SEPTEMBER 2017 (9am start at Surf Club). You only need to attend ONE of these days - not both.

Please find below information on how to attend and complete Skills Maintenance (Proficiency) for the 2017/18 season.

STEP 1 - RENEW MEMBERSHIP BY 31 AUGUST 2017
You must have renewed your membership PRIOR to attending the Skills Maintenance (Proficiency) day. CLICK HERE to view all the information on how to renew your membership on the NEW Membership page.

STEP 2 - COMPLETE SKILLS MAINTENANCE THEORY PAPER
see section below titled 'How to Complete Skills Maintenance (Proficiency) Theory Paper for 2017/18' for more information.

STEP 3 - ATTEND SKILLS MAINTENANCE DAY
Skills Maintenance will be conducted on:
SATURDAY 9 (10am) and SUNDAY 10 SEPTEMBER 2017 (9am).
You only need to attend 1 of these days - not both. Meet at the Clubhouse at the time specified above and ensure you bring the following with you:

  • Noddy
  • Hi-vis rash shirt (only if you have one)
  • Proof of completing online theory
  • Hi-vis Rash Shirt or yellow Surf Rescue Rash Shirt (for IRB Crew & Driver Proficiencies)

NOTE: If you were NOT proficient in your Bronze Medallion/SRC in the 2016/17 season, OR completed your proficiency after 31 December 2016, you will need to have completed a pool swim BEFORE attending the Skills Maintenance Day. Contact Don Stevenson if you need to complete your pool swim.

HOW TO COMPLETE SKILLS MAINTENANCE (Proficiency) THEORY PAPER FOR 2017/18

ALL members who want to complete a Skills Maintenance (proficiency) for ANY award in the 2017/18 season need to complete the Skills Maintenance Theory Paper.

You can complete it via 1 of 2 ways:

    • 1. ONLINE
    • Please READ ALL information below BEFORE clicking on the instructions link below.
      You can complete the paper online via SLSQ e-learnign platform.
      If you require any assistance accessing or completing the online paper, please call Don Stevenson - he will be more than happy to assist you with the process.

      Important notes when completing online paper
        • Read the information slides prior to the questions
        • If you get a question wrong, click the back button to recomplete that question.
        • 'Certificate of Completion' - you will need to provide evidence of completing your theory paper online to the Club. You can either: (A) print off the certificate by clicking on the 'RETRIEVE CERTIFICATE' button at the end of the questions and bring with you on the day of proficiency. You could also scan the certificate (after printing it) and email to training@pointlookoutslsc.com.au. If you do not bring a copy of the Certificate, or email it through, unfortunately you will need to complete the Paper based theory paper at the Club before any practical components
